Paul’s boa

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This was Paul’s first wild-caught Boa constrictor (that he caught himself).  It turned out to be a very aggressive male, unlike Eba, our temporary pet boa who is now healthy and free.  This boa bit Paul in the hand, leaving behind two teeth, one of which became slightly infected.  Soon, after the bite, the snake escaped its bucket before Paul was able to get a photograph with it.  A few days later, he found it in between the roof and the ceiling and finally got his photo. Eichhornia collection

Yesterday, I had the greatly appreciated help of several individuals that came along with the Tropical Biology OTS course.  Pictured in the foreground are Abbie and Amanda, and in the background, Justin and Stevland.  Not pictured is Mo Donnelly.

They fearlessly helped collect living Eichhornia at the crocodile-infested waters at the Catalina sector wetland for placement in competition enclosures in Palo Verde.  The bags full of hyacinth are shown in the other picture.
