Sirena Canoe Trip
| Probably the best day in Osa was when we sampled two streams feeding Rio Sirena and traveled to the streams via this boat. We saw a tapir, we caught snapper, we saw squirrel monkeys, a bat falcon taking a Costa Rican Swallow, bull sharks, and American crocodiles – and, of course, successfully sampled two streams. |  |
Fishing hole
Brian caught two large snapper for dinner on our return trip from the canoe up Rio Sirena. Hundreds of fish swam about in the clear water river. If you’re an avid fisherman, use freshwater shrimp if you want to make catches like this.

| We stayed at what I think is the old Sirena station for a few days. The roof and bed pads were great luxury, but the mice created a bit of stress. The station was set back a bit from the new station, which was filled with tourist coming in and out. The three of us were on our own for most of our stay, but another researcher, whom we had incidentally met in Palo Verde, shared the station the last couple of nights. |  |

| Ojos Blancos (Oxyzygonectes dovii – Family Anablepidae) look a bit like gigantic mollies. We discovered and caught some as the tide raised Rio Sirena. |  |
